Availability

The nursery is staffed during both services on Sunday morning (9:00 & 10:45am), and Wednesday New Community (6:30pm).

The Facilities

Our present facility includes an infant area with two "Pack-n-Plays" for sleeping babies, changing pad, rockers, swings, and a walker. A room for toddlers (up to age 3) is equipped with age appropriate and safe toys for our children. Toddlers will enjoy stories (Bible based) and a snack time, as well as supervised free play.

Who works in the nursery?

Volunteer caregivers make the nursery a success. They help provide physical and emotional care and encourage interaction among children and adults. Youth helpers also assist in providing love and care for our precious little children. We feel this is a great training tool. Teens/youth will always have at least one adult in the room with them. The Nursery Coordinator greets all the parents and children upon arrival and pick up. The coordinator also handles all questions and concerns regarding the nursery. Parents, please be prepared that there may come a time when you will be asked to stay in order to help fill a shortage or simply to help meet our caregiver to child ratio in the event that our numbers are larger than normal. Your cooperation and service is greatly appreciated.

Check-In

  1. Label all diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, and belongings.
  2. Children who are sick with:
    • fever within the last 24 hours

    • infectious skin rash
    • diarrhea
    • eye discharge
    • Will NOT be allowed in the nursery.

Please help us to keep our children and volunteers healthy. If your child develops a fever or other illness symptoms we will page you immediately to pick up your child.

  3. No medication will be given to any child in the nursery.
  4. The nursery staff cannot mix formula for babies. We can, however, feed your baby with ready-made bottles.
  5. Diapers will be changed if soiled. Hygiene is of utmost importance - plastic gloves are available for changing babies.
  6. Toys are cleaned and linens are laundered on a regular basis.
    • Label all your child's belongings, including bottles, cups, and pacifiers.
    • Complete a registration card for each child.
    • Sign your child in and place a nametag on his/her back.
    • The Nursery Coordinator or a volunteer will hand your child over the gate to another volunteer in the nursery. Parents/siblings are not allowed in the nursery.
    • Pick up a pager. If we need to call you out of the worship service you will be paged. The pager will be set to silent, and needs to be worn because it vibrates when activated.

Check Out

As a safety precaution, the child MUST be signed out by a parent/adult and the pager returned to pick up your child. A volunteer will retrieve your child and hand him/her to you. Parents/siblings are not allowed in the nursery.

If you would like additional information about the nursery or would like to volunteer, please contact: Tammy Sanders, Nursery Coordinator at 630-742-7483

Volunteer Caregivers are Always Needed

Benefits of serving in the nursery: Meet many of the people who care for your child. Get a first-hand look at how the nursery serves the needs of your child. Build lasting relationships during your fellowship with the children and other volunteers. Love and be loved by God's precious gifts.

Is your teen looking for a place to serve? The nursery is an ideal training ground for young teens who love children and want to learn how to assist adult leaders in providing loving care for our toddlers.
